It’s official: automatic dubbing is finally available on YouTube!
In our article “How to Make Channels and Videos International” we had already mentioned this incredible feature, and now all creators can use it to enhance their content.
But let’s take a step back: what is YouTube’s automatic dubbing?
This feature uses artificial intelligence, automatically generating translated audio tracks in various languages, making videos more accessible to users worldwide. If the option is active, simply click the gear icon under the videos and select “audio track,” as we show in this example image.

How to Activate Automatic Dubbing on a YouTube Channel
This feature will be active by default on all channels!
Currently, YouTube is providing preview access to certain creators, particularly those who have joined the YouTube Partner Program.
To check if your channel is eligible, simply access the channel settings – >Uploaded videos default settings – >Advanced settings.

After activating automatic dubbing, you can also enable the option to manually review all dubbings created by the system.
This second option certainly offers creators more control, but it also requires a significant investment of time and attention.
In fact, as reported in the official guide, it is specified that:
“Automatic dubbing helps make information more globally accessible, although not all videos can be dubbed correctly or accurately. Currently, the tone and emotion of the original audio are not transferred to the dubbings; therefore, the functionality performs better on content that does not rely on expressiveness. Since the dubbed versions are automatically generated, they may contain inaccuracies due to pronunciation errors, accents, dialects, or background noise in the original video. We may also have difficulty translating proper names, idioms, and slang expressions.”

It’s important to know that: automatic dubbing is only applied to videos uploaded after the feature is activated. I n this initial phase of the rollout, the automated system will not retroactively apply to already published videos.
YouTube is progressively expanding the number of languages supported for automatic dubbing.
Currently, some languages are already fully supported, while others are considered “experimental,” meaning they are in the testing phase and accessible only in preview.
For videos in Italian, at the moment automatic dubbing is only possible in English.
